Get Cooking in Llantwit Major
From March to May 2025, 7 participants, made up of Ukrainian women from recently resettled communities in Llantwit, took part in our ‘Get Cooking’ course at CF61 in Llantwit Major, learning to cook healthy Welsh and British dishes, and sharing their own favourites too.
‘Get Cooking’ is a practical course that teaches cooking skills, healthy recipes, and the basics of balanced eating in a fun and supportive environment.
Over 8 sessions (plus a celebration finale!), the group made everything from Glamorgan sausages and Welsh cakes to spring rolls and cheesecakes
Delivered by Food Vale and the Cardiff & Vale Public Health Dietetic Team, with translation support, the course fostered new skills, recipes and connections – all part of the Llantwit Food Project, funded by the National Lottery and accredited by Agored Cymru
