The Vale Food Trail has concluded another successful year, attracting more than 1,500 visitors to food-focused events and experiences across the Vale of Glamorgan.
Running from 24 May to 7 June, the two-week celebration showcased the very best of the Vale’s local food and drink sector, with 32 events taking place at farms, cafés, restaurants, markets and independent businesses across the county.
Around 30 businesses were directly involved in this year’s programme, with many more supporting and promoting the trail through larger community events such as Cowbridge Farmers Market.
Together, they helped create a diverse programme of activities designed to connect people with local producers, seasonal food and sustainable food practices.
From farm tours and tasting sessions to workshops, open days and special menus, the trail offered visitors a unique opportunity to discover where their food comes from while supporting local businesses and producers.
Businesses taking part reported a range of benefits from their involvement, including increased visibility, stronger community engagement and opportunities to reach new audiences.
Louise Denham, Food Vale Co-ordinator, said: “The success of this year’s Vale Food Trail reflects the enthusiasm and generosity of our local food businesses. With more businesses taking part and so many choosing to collaborate, support and shine a light on one another, it’s been wonderful to see such a strong and connected food community in action.”
The Vale Food Trail is organised by Food Vale, Vale of Glamorgan Council, Visit the Vale and Cywain, who work together to support a thriving and sustainable food and drink sector across the region.
