Llantwit Food Project

Our current work has been shaped by learning from the Llantwit Food Project, a local partnership pilot that explored new ways of responding to household food insecurity. The project brought together community organisations and local services to better understand local needs, test collaborative approaches and strengthen connections between food support, health and wider community wellbeing.

Drawing on learning from the project in Llantwit Major, this same coordinated and partnership approach is being applied to the development of a broader, county-wide strategy focused on prevention, collaboration and building resilient local food systems that go beyond short-term responses.

This is being launched with some work to explore whether more cooperative food-buying cooperative models might be feasible, and offer us the opportunity to improve food quality, health and sustainability, strengthen local supply chains and use public funding as effectively as possible.
