Launch of the Vale’s Healthy & Sustainable Food Action Plan!

We’ve drawn on ideas put forward by the Food Vale Network, conversations with passionate citizens from across the Vale and the expertise provided by the Food Vale Steering Group to put together a plan of action for the good food movement in 2022/23.
The 12-month plan is structured around the three key aims of the Food Vale Charter; A good meal for everyone everyday, Thriving independent businesses that are supported and valued, and Think Global, Eat Local. It includes activities such as building a case for healthy food advertising; developing an online directory of local food businesses; supporting the development of farm networks; establishing a community food network and exploring opportunities for gleaning across the Vale.
The document is a fantastic testament to how much is already going on in the Vale around healthy and sustainable food, as well as a clear indication of the direction that local communities and organisations want to be heading. That is, towards a healthy, just and sustainable local food system.
As a member of the Sustainable Food Places, we have also sought to make sure that our plan of action covers the breadth of issues identified in the Sustainable Food Places Framework.
The final draft of the Action Plan will be officially launched at the Network Gathering on 16th February 2022.
