Local food producers, businesses and organisations have come together to celebrate the progress being made towards creating a healthier, fairer and more sustainable food system in the Vale of Glamorgan at Food Vale’s Celebrating Progress, Shaping What’s Next event.

Held at Tramshed Tech in Barry, the event brought together people from across the county to reflect on achievements made over the past year, share ideas and explore the next steps in delivering the ambitions of the Vale Food Strategy 2025-2030.

Guests heard from local Good Food Ambassadors, viewed displays highlighting projects from across the Food Vale partnership and took part in discussions focused on building a healthier, more resilient and sustainable local food system.

The event also provided an opportunity to recognise a significant milestone for the area, following the Vale of Glamorgan’s recent achievement of the Silver Sustainable Food Places Award.

Louise Denham, Food Vale Coordinator, said: “It was fantastic to see so many people come together to celebrate the progress being made across the Vale. The achievements we’ve seen over the past year are only possible because of the passion, commitment and collaboration of local communities, organisations, businesses and volunteers.

“Food is something that connects us all, and events like this help us build the relationships and shared ambition needed to create lasting change. We have achieved a great deal together, but there is still more to do. The conversations and ideas shared during the evening will help shape the next phase of Food Vale’s work as we continue striving for a food system that is healthier, fairer and more sustainable for everyone.”

Food Vale works with partners across the public, private and voluntary sectors to improve access to good food, support local food businesses and producers, strengthen community food resilience and promote sustainable food practices across the Vale of Glamorgan.

The partnership thanked everyone who attended the event and contributed to the discussions and looks forward to continuing to work with communities and organisations across the county to deliver the shared vision set out in the Vale Food Strategy.
